When people talk about quality, many first think of certificates and test protocols. Both are a given at NutraPet, but they only describe part of what we mean by quality. For us, quality starts much earlier: in the selection of raw materials, in the care taken with every formulation, and in our commitment that every batch delivers on its promise. To the animal, to our customers, and to ourselves.
What we mean when we talk about quality
Quality is built into every single step of the process and, above all, into the attitude of the people who carry out those steps. “We live and breathe quality” is therefore something we take for granted in our day-to-day work, and it is the standard by which we measure ourselves.
Whatever goes in must be proven to work
Everything we include in a recipe should serve a purpose. Ingredients are calculated on the basis of nutritional requirements and used in quantities that actually work in the final product.
Made in Germany, characterised by Swabian thoroughness
We manufacture our products in Schlaitdorf, near Stuttgart. For us, ‘Made in Germany’ signifies not only our origins but also a way of working that is deeply rooted in the culture of this region: thoroughness, order and technical precision. Our regional roots are therefore a stabilising factor that makes consistent quality and a high level of process reliability possible in the first place.
Quality starts with the recipe
Quality begins with preparation. A well-thought-out formulation, precisely measured ingredients and a production process that ensures every step is carried out correctly result in high-quality, functional products. This pays off both in the end product and in our relationship with our customers.
IFS certification
IFS certification is one of the most rigorous quality standards in the food and feed industry and is recognised internationally. Once a year, independent auditors inspect our entire operation, from the procurement of raw materials through to production and documentation.
Organic certification
We undergo regular audits in the premix sector and are proud to meet the organic certification standards.
NutraIQ
With NutraIQ, we make our quality standards visible on the packaging. The seal signals to end consumers and retailers that a product has been developed with the involvement of experienced developers from NutraPet and has undergone comprehensive quality control. As our formulations are used in millions of end products and recommended by thousands of vets, the seal is backed by decades of development work for dogs, cats and horses.
NutraIQ is based on the SMART principle, which sets out our quality philosophy in five clear criteria:
- S – Science & Technology: Scientifically based recipes, backed by research and nutritional calculations.
- M – Made in Germany: Manufactured in Schlaitdorf near Stuttgart, characterised by Swabian thoroughness and reliable process control.
- A – Accepted by Pets: palatability tests prior to market launch – with scores well above the market standard.
- R – Reliability & Quality: consistent quality in every batch, guaranteed by IFS-certified production and full traceability.
- T – Trusted: trusted thanks to veterinary recommendations and a long track record in the market.
NutraIQ is thus the logical extension of our quality philosophy: the products manufactured at our Schlaitdorf plant are prominently displayed on the shelves, serving as a mark of trust for consumers and a distinguishing feature for the brands that manufacture with us.

Quality in contract manufacturing
When we produce snacks, powders, and complementary pet food on behalf of our clients, quality means certified production, our own gentle in-house process for snacks, and regular testing of raw materials, packaging, and labelling. Every batch is documented and fully traceable.
Quality in premix development
A premix is only as good as how it actually performs on our clients’ production lines. That’s why every formulation is individually tailored to – among other factors – the production equipment, protein source, and final product. In addition, every batch undergoes incoming and outgoing inspection in our in-house laboratory.
